The scary terminal penguin :emoji_of_despair:

The first time I used linux was like maybe 5 years ago during my high school days, at that time I thought it was just another tedious thing people used to feel superior or something like that but it was just "like" windows but more modifiable and fun to use. People tend to scare away new people away from linux by saying stuff like "read the manual" when they ask for help or the amount of misinformation the memes spread about how the you need to learn programming in order to download and use programs. But since this year is the year of the linux desktop [2025] due the massive help of microsoft [by shooting themselves in the foot] and valve [steamOS] there has been a huge influx of new users (i might be exaggerating some stuff btw) to linux or GNU/linux or even Rust/linux, I will be writing my experiences (total 4 years) as a GNU/linux user/victim and I sincerely thank Linus torvald and Richard Stallman two of the biggest faces of the opensource space for making this operating system.

The First distro I installed was Arch {ik ik its not for beginners} and failed horribly... then I didn't even think of it till 2023 or 22 or 21... cannot remember but in that time frame I was DETERMINED to install linux through dual boot, I installed ubuntu but stopped because I didn't like GNOME... I know that I could have changed the desktop environment in the iso or something like that, but heres the thing I DID NOT know shit about the linux and its magnificient world of DEs and window managers so I tried to install arch again but this time instead of doing it manually I used a thing called the archinstall script which is just a script that helps in install arch, ofc I had to do some stuff manually with the help of a youtube video to have dual booting with windows [stop booing me i will cry :( ].

Still using arch rn but more migrated than before yk gaming stuff, document editing software like libreoffice, latex, etc, and other media software. Yeah its a pain in the ass finding a good FOSS replacement for stuff, not that I actually learned all of it and had muscle memory but still but when you find one its really good. I might finally start distro hopping, my eyes are on debian rn heard its pretty stable so I might migrate all my irl accounts and work onto that coz i don't want arch to implode on me (had that happen 2 by now) and destroy all my work. I could try to make arch "stable" I bet some people are thinking to themselves "Well arch is pretty stable blah blah blha..." shush peasant Loader just wants an excuse to distro hop. thumbsup_emoji
